When was bishop sproxton ordained

In celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on 8 December, the feast day of the Cathedral and the Archdiocese, Archbishop Costelloe repeated the solemn act of consecration at the conclusion of the 11am Mass on Sunday 17 December, the third Sunday of Advent. To mark the occasion, Archbishop Costelloe made special mention of the words of Mary at Cana - do whatever he tells you — and how they continue to be at the heart of Mary's role as Mother of the Church.

On the occasion of his 40th anniversary to the Priesthood, Bishop Sproxton gave thanks to God for His faithfulness to him during his priesthood. It is an aspect of my ministry I remember with great fondness. A new church project for Attadale was started around and the church was finally dedicated by Archbishop Costelloe in I still teach part-time at the University of Notre Dame Australia.

You will notice, I hope, my gratitude for so many blessings. An important part of my journey through seminary and priestly life has been the retreats I have done in the Ignatian spiritual tradition. I have been blessed to make the Spiritual Exercises, once in at Campion House, Kew and the second time in at Sevenhill. This tradition of spirituality given to the church by St Ignatius Loyola and the Society of Jesus has been significant in shaping the way I view ministry and the world.

I am grateful for the mercy of God which has kept me in my vocation. Archbishop Hickey formed a working party to review the formation for the seminarians of the Archdiocese. Bishop Sproxton, with the other members of the working party, recommended that St Charles' Seminary be re-established. He was appointed coordinator for the Permanent Diaconate program in He is also a member of the Association of Heads of Churches. As the Church in Australia prepares for Prison Sunday, Bishop Don Sproxton has thanked prison chaplains for their ongoing pastoral care of prisoners, especially in a time when ministry has been hindered by the pandemic.

Bishop Columba Macbeth-Green, seen at the Australian Catholic Youth Festival, is inviting youth ministry leaders to attend a national consultation next month.
