This problem affects some products in the following serial number ranges:. The body number becoming faint or wearing off does not affect the product functionality. It also does not affect warranty service since the body number is recorded as data in the product. Please contact your local service center if you encounter this problem. I had the same problem. I e-mailed Canon U. They added a new number and updated the software.
They even updated the sticker on the side of the box with the new number. All this was after I pointed out that it was a manufacturing fault.
