How many bs for med school

Out of necessity S had to complete senior year before applying to, in part, effect grade repair. With enough units and As you may be able to move the sGPA needle to a more competitive level by end of the third year and apply.

You really only want to apply with strongest app possible. By waiting to apply until end of senior year you may be less stressed to pump out As, less rushed to study and earn a competitive MCAT, get more ECs, have a college life.

Just something for you to consider. Deficiencies in any one of those areas could be fatal to your chances. Or that if I have strong everything else, I should be good? No worries vkugal. Perhaps you were having family problems. Maybe you were just adjusting to the rigor of school.

Or you might have simply been lazy and not had the proper motivation to study. The important thing is that you shape up and do well every other semester. Sometimes, your transcript tells a story.

Some do not adjust or learn as quickly as everyone else. If you had a bad first year, learning from your mistakes and doing well every other year, shows admissions committees that you know how to adapt and succeed in adversity. This upward trend could be a discussion topic during interviews, an opportunity to display how you persevered and overcame challenges.

Poor grades can help you build character and appreciate what you have. I had a subpar first quarter at UCLA. Then in my first biology midterm during my second quarter, I got a D-. These bad grades and scores really humbled and challenged me.

I had to change the way I studied. This process really strengthened and confirmed my desire to go into medicine. As my future was threatened, my hunger grew even stronger and therefore enabled me to make the necessary adjustments I needed to so that I can become a strong applicant for medical school. If you do get bad grades, you have to keep in mind why. Is it your laziness? Are you simply not good at science or math?

What about the MCAT? As usual, Richard, you posted something that took the stress out of my night. I forget that my perfectly fine 3. Major FUD was setting in as I face my last midterm in ochem. And these Bs are at community college gasp! Cheers, Judy. I understand that this is relates to all applicants and not non-trad. Should I assume that because of our non-trad profile, these numbers are very inflated? Right now, a few members who have very good stats again by these standards , seem to have difficulties gaining acceptance although the cycle is far from being finished, and in my opinion their fears are not necessarily justified at this point.

Adding all the tribulations of my background that do include both pluses and minuses , there is no way I will have anywhere near this chances of success and I am in texas, very favorable to its own residents. So, I am leaning toward taking these with a grain or a few more of salt. In other words, stats should perhaps be adjusted to reflect the realities behind our profiles. Or is this insane?
